The solar plexus is associated with the color yellow and is the power house of the energy centers. While our sacral chakra is where our emotions reside it is in the solar plexus that we feel those emotions. If we are not careful, harmful emotions such as guilt, fear and shame will hover over this area. These emotions will do nothing more than hold us back and keep us down. An unbalanced solar plexus will also leave us feeling drained most of the time.
Someone suffering with an under active solar plexus may have low self-esteem, little to no self-confidence, and may even play the victim blaming everyone and everything for how their life turned out. While on the flip side, an overactive solar plexus will perpetuate a controlling attitude. This person will probably be super ambitious starting many projects while rarely finishing any. Ideally we all would prefer to have a solar plexus that is nicely balanced, in which you will have and healthy balance between all things in life. You will have a good self-image and your self-confidence will be high. You’ll also have a good sense of humor and be able to look at life that way. You will also be able to trust your intuition, something I have been living closely by for a while now and it has improved my life greatly. I remember back in the day when I longed for balance in my life. Now that I have achieved it I am compelled to learn how to sustain it. I have come to realize that it is true “happiness comes from the inside” while external happiness will only fade. This is why it is important to take the journey and find out who we are and what pleases us.
If you find that your solar plexus is out of balance there are several things you can do that will help. First it is important to know who you are. If you are confident in who you are you wont take things so personally. Allowing others actions and opinions shape us will only cause ill feeling towards ourselves. The only opinion that matters is that of your own. We should be filling ourselves with thoughts of love, acceptance, and encouragement. We should, at the very least, treat ourselves in the same way we would treat anyone we love.
Last but not least, mediation is the number one way to align all of our chakras. Take the time to sit in stillness every day. This exercise, in my opinion, is as important as getting physical exercise. We know how important it is to get in a certain amount of physical activity each day to keep our bodies healthy and strong. Why would it not be important to exercise the mind so that, as well, will be healthy and strong?
