The heart chakra is, so far, my favorite of all the chakras. It is the connection between the mind and body. It’s really cool because I actually have a meditation exercise that I do that brings together mind, body and spirit. It is very simple, when meditating visualize a diamond light in the center of your head, one where your heart chakra is and one where your root chakra is seeing the diamond light in all three energy centers at once. Then imagine a beam of light that goes from your root chakra through the floor and into the ground. This will keep you grounded while the other two small twinkles of light begin to grow until the light has spread throughout your entire body and is shooting out of your fingers and toes. I normally do this exercise at the beginning of my meditation session. It will help to energize and ground you for the day. I can’t tell you the countless times in my past that I used food to ground me. Now, a simple thirty minute meditation session is all that is needed.
Anyway, the heart chakra when in balance opens a person’s heart and allows them to find peace within themselves. When this chakra is in balance you will have a kind and compassionate heart. Some like to call this having a God’s eye view of the world and the people in it. You will understand the natural order of things and take life’s little set backs as a set up for something better. You will also find a deep sense of peace when you are outside in nature.
The heart chakra is associated with the color green and rightly so. I can’t tell you how many times I have been on my walks and noticed the never-ending shades of green. Spirituality is deeply connected to this energy center, because it is all about loving life and being grateful. It is hard to get sour on life if you look for reasons to be grateful.
Some of the symptoms of an under active heart chakra is having a poor immune system and chronic allergies. As well as having asthma and low blood pressure. You may also feel isolated and critical of others. On the flip side an over active heart chakra may attribute to co-dependent relationships, jealousy, and a people pleasing personality.
Simply breathing can help to realign this chakra. It Also helps to spend time outside in nature. And, As always, meditate. This is, of course, the best way to get in touch with the spirituality of the heart chakra. Take the time to sit in stillness every day breathing deeply all the while being grateful for each and every breath you take in and release. Find a connection between love and your breathing is a wonderful way to get in touch with the energy of your heart chakra.
